5 ways to cosy-up your interior this winter

Is your place feeling more like a chilly bin, than a cosy haven?
Living in your space at this time of year should be cosy, wonderful and warm… right?

But you’re still feeling a chill and dreaming of longer days and warm sunny evenings?
Perhaps your need to change your environment. Read on to learn 5 top-tips from Options Gifts and Homewares owner Pauline Carter, about how to cosy-up your space this winter, and make it inviting to residents and visitors alike.
1. Bring nature inside

Brighten up your space with gorgeous artificial flowers, like these stunning magnolias. Add some greenery and no one will know the difference. Pauline suggests pairing these magnolia fronds with natural camellia or magnolia leaves; or you could try generous stems of rosemary or bay.

2. Set the scene with a candle

Lighting is key to creating a warm and inviting space. A candle glowing on a side or coffee table can really set the scene for a warm, inviting conversation or a glass of something delicious. Try these eye-catching, New Zealand made, 100% soy candles by Surmanti. Each is set in a sheek black glass holder. Top-tip: Pauline’s favourite scent = Pear and Passion.

3. Cosy-up that sofa

Any sofa can be transformed into an inviting place to sit, lie or snuggle with a top-quality throw. As always, Options Homeware & Gifts have a stunning range. The ‘easy’ throw starting at $59.90, a sheepskin backed ‘Sherpa blanket’ for $79.90, or a ‘Bliss mohair’ blend for $145. Why not choose an on trend colour like mustard, cream or blush colour to compliment your couch or occasional chair, and add a seasonal fashion update at the same time.
4. Brew a delicious pot of tea

The Maxwell and Williams ‘Tint teapot’ and ‘snug mug’ are just that; snug. The generously proportioned mug won’t leave you wanting, while the pot will brew enough to share. The stylish lines of this pleasing duo makes it a great gift at this time of year too. And if you’re looking for a tasty tea to try, pop over to Countdown and check out their extensive range - including Higher Living organic teas from the United Kingdom. Chamomile & Vanilla sounds exquisite. A little bowl of biscotti, cookies or liquorice won’t go amiss either.

5. Swap in some shag

Pauline recommends adding a delicious shag carpet to... wait for it... your bathroom or ensuite floor! Not in place of a bath mat but for extra comfort, by the sink perhaps? It’s an inexpensive way to add a touch of lux; and on cold winter mornings, your feet are guaranteed to thank-you for it.

Ready, set, relax...
We’re positive that with Pauline's tips, you’ll love your cosy winter home so much, you probably won’t want to leave.

But if you do have to head away from your humble abode - don’t forget to take the ‘cosy’ with you. Do yourself a favour and invest in some divine McDonald Possum and merino gloves. Your hands will be in Hawaii where ever you go!

Embrace the cosy; because before you know it, you'll be wheeling the bbq out again!
