Festive activities for the kids.

Festive activities for the kids.

It’s official. The Pohutukawas have bloomed, the beach towels are out!

If you’re keen to keep your kids occupied and get them in the festive spirit in the lead up to Christmas, read on.

We’ve put together a list of Christmas themed activities for the kids (and the ‘kids at heart’) to do. They’re sure to get the creative juices flowing and create some special family moments.

Enjoy.

Make a homemade gingerbread house

Keep the whole house happy. This activity not only ticks the 'creative box' it also ticks the 'delicious box'. Who doesn’t love gingerbread with lollies? Countdown has an amazing recipe that looks 100% yum. A project the whole family can enjoy.

Create a Christmas elf door

This is too cute. Just imagine where their imaginations will go when they start creating their own little elf door. The Christmas Elf door set (from $15) from Kmart Bethlehem comes with all sorts of decorations as well as a light feature.

Or why not make your own? Gather up some materials - card, wrapping paper, stickers, glitter etc. and get the kids to create their own elf entrance. You could even use greenery from the garden for your own reef.

Find Santa around the world

For those times that everyone needs a bit of downtime (aka quiet, calming time) this activity will work a treat. Clever Kids and Paper Plus (from $18.99) in Bethlehem is where you’ll find it. With over 800 things to spot this will keep the kids occupied for hours. It can also teach them a little bit about Santa how he visits kids all over the world.

DIY Christmas cards

Instead of just buying an ordinary pack of cards for the kids to give out at school, get them to make their own! This $6 card making kit from Kmart Bethlehem will have them entertained for hours. You can guarantee they won’t turn up to school with the same card as someone else.

Elf on a shelf

Creating family traditions are important as they create special moments that build lasting memories. The Elf on the Shelf book ($79.99) does exactly that. It’s a book that you’ll dig out every Christmas and the kids will cherish forever. You’ll find this little gem of a book in Paper Plus Bethlehem. If you’ve already got your Elf on the Shelf then here are some more fun ideas to put him to use.

Visit the magical woodlands and get photos with Santa

Give your kid’s special moments to remember. Visit our magical woodlands area for daytime delight or an evening enchantment.

Our jolly Santa and his helpers will be arriving in town on the 8th December and will be sticking around for photos until Christmas Eve. Get Santa Magic to take a personal photo. Prices start from $15.00. You can even get your photo on a bauble or fridge magnet for the special keepsake.

At Bethlehem Town Centre, we are serious about Christmas. When we say serious, we mean we want you to enjoy a magical Christmas experience and make memorable moments with your family.

See you soon.
